South Asian Games 2019 happening in Nepal!

South Asian Games (SAG) is a bi-annual multi-national sporting event where athletes from seven different countries participate in various games. Athletes from Nepal, India, Pakistan, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Maldives and Sri Lanka participate in this Sports event. South Asian Games include 27 types of sports like Football, Cricket, Basketball, Volleyball, Archery, Golf, Handball and others. Some people even consider the SAG to be a South Asian version of the Olympics game.

This year, Nepal is hosting the South Asian Games happening from 27th November 2019 at Kathmandu, Pokhara and Janakpur. Nepal was the first country to host SAG back in 1984, and again hosted the event in 1999.

Nepal was able to secure 3 Gold and a total of 60 medals during SAG 2016. The country secured first position in Football winning against India and also secured gold medals in Wushu and Judo. This year too, the hopes are high as the event is happening in the home country itself. For Nepalese, SAG 2019 is a perfect opportunity to show the country’s increasing interest as well as dedication in sports.
