There is a growing trend towards cashless society all over the world. Debit Card, Credit Card, Digital wallets, various modes of online transaction are emerging. One such mode is QR payment. While QR code has been around for quiet some time, it gained popularity as a payment method only since 2014.

China, Kenya, India and Japan are few of the countries where QR has gained excessive popularity. Recently joining in on the line is Nepal. As a part of movement towards digital 2020, eSewa began Scan to Pay services. The main goal of digital 2020 is to have at least 20% of overall transaction in Nepal conducted digitally. As Scan to Pay service is spreading, today, we list out a few industries where eSewa Scan to Pay is reaching out.

  1. Food and Beverages

Food is the heart of every hangout. Following this, we have partnered up with various food outlets. Now, don’t worry about having physical cash in your pocket, just use Scan to Pay for food bill payment at several restaurants from Hot Breads, KKFC, KFC and Dalle to Octave, Master Baker, Calm, Bajeko Sekuwa and many more.

  1. Retail Stores and Groceries

A cashier physically counting every single penny is the main reason behind long queues at payment counters, agreed? As Scan to Pay is adopted by increasing number of stores like Miniso, Yoyoso, Family Mart and Collective Family Store, customers can enjoy speed check-outs for a better shopping experience.

  1. Medical Stores

When in pain, we think about nothing else but getting to the medical store. Looking for ATM booths to withdraw cash is the last thing that comes to our mind. So, eSewa has partnered with different pharmacies and clinics like Norvic Pharmacy, Sooriya Dignostic, Pearl Dental clinic, etcetera for easy payment of medical bill.

  1. Hotels

Carrying a lot of cash in hand while travelling creates risk of theft, instead you can now have all your money right inside your phone in eSewa wallet and use scan to pay services available at different hotels like Swornim Boutique hotel, Hotel Shambala, Last Resort, Himalayan Heights Resort, and Shivapuri Village Resort.

  1. Fuel Centers

Keeping track of how much you spent on fuel is now easy. Use eSewa scan to pay at different fuel centers across Pokhara and Kathmandu like Indra Jyoti Petrol Pump, Valley fuel center and more.

  1. Emerging businesses

Nepal’s drive towards a cashless economy will be successful only when people can make QR payments at even the most local stores. With this in mind, we have tried to incorporate QR in small to medium scale businesses of every type. Jhochhen Cold Store, Shilu Store, and Universal Education Consultancy are just a few examples of our partners.
