Every Boundary Counts: Turning Cricket Moments into a Movement for Red Panda Conservation

Cricket has a way of bringing people together. Every boundary sparks excitement, every six gets the crowd cheering, and every match creates moments that fans remember. But what if these moments could also make a difference beyond the cricket field?

This Nepal Premier League (NPL) 2026, eSewa is turning the excitement of cricket into an opportunity to support wildlife conservation through its ‘Every Boundary Counts’ initiative. As the official ticketing partner of NPL, eSewa has partnered with the Red Panda Network and Red Panda Network Nepal to contribute towards protecting the natural habitat of Nepal’s endangered red panda.

Every Four and Six Makes a Difference

Under the initiative, eSewa will contribute NPR 1,000 for every four and NPR 2,000 for every six hit during NPL 2026. The total contribution will be capped at NPR 1 million, inclusive of applicable taxes.

This means every boundary scored during the tournament will carry a purpose beyond the game, helping channel the collective excitement of cricket fans towards protecting one of Nepal’s most remarkable wildlife species.

Protecting the Home of the Red Panda

The red panda is classified as an endangered species on the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List. Habitat loss and degradation remain significant challenges to its survival, making forest protection and restoration essential to its conservation.

Through this partnership, the contributions generated during NPL 2026 will support habitat restoration initiatives in the community forests of Ilam and Panchthar, where red pandas are mainly found.

The conservation activities are planned for June - July 2027 and will focus on restoring degraded forest areas, planting native tree species, and ensuring the continued care of newly planted saplings.

Creating Opportunities Alongside Conservation

Protecting wildlife also means supporting the communities that share their environment. That is why this initiative goes beyond tree planting to include local participation and livelihood opportunities.

The programme aims to:

  • Restore approximately 10 hectares of degraded red panda habitat.
  • Plant 10,000 native tree saplings.
  • Generate around 600 paid workdays for local community members.
  • Prioritise women in employment opportunities created through the initiative.

By combining habitat restoration with paid local employment, the initiative seeks to contribute to both environmental conservation and community well-being.

Every Boundary Has a Bigger Purpose

At eSewa, we believe that meaningful change can begin with small actions and collective efforts. By connecting the popularity of Nepal’s biggest cricket league with an important conservation cause, we hope to show how sporting moments can contribute to a more sustainable future.

Throughout NPL 2026, we will share updates on the contributions generated through every four and six on our official website and social media channels.

So, as you cheer for your favourite team and celebrate every boundary, remember that each one counts for something bigger.

Because this NPL, every boundary counts for the red panda.
