“Know your customer” simply known as KYC, is used by organizations to verify the identity of customers. Services provided by eSewa are governed by the Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB). NRB has made KYC compulsory for all of the customers who want to conduct transactions above NRs. 5000/-.
Additionally, after verifying KYC, users get various benefits like:
- Verified user will be able to transact above NRs. 5,000 per transaction.
- Verified user can transfer money from their wallets to bank accounts maintained at eSewa Member Banks at minimal charges.
- Verified user can receive the amount from Western Union directly in their eSewa account.
How to complete your KYC?
To Complete your KYC Process, first login to your eSewa account then tap on your profile photo and go to Document Information to fill the KYC form. Personal details required are as follows:
- Full Name
- Father’s Name
- Grandfather’s Name
- Date of Birth
- Contact No.
- Permanent Address
- Current Address
For Identification Documents, upload scanned photos of PP size photo and both sides of Citizenship/License/passport/voter ID.
Do you need to pay for your KYC?
Charges are not involved for filling up KYC. Also, charges are not involved in using most of eSewa’s services.
Are your KYC documents Safe?
It’s natural to have doubts about security when providing others with personal identification documents. Having said that, eSewa KYC verification process is completely safe and is carried out by our representatives especially trained for the purpose. Users personal details are stored securely in our servers and are not stored in any individual’s personal devices.
How much time is required for KYC verification?
Once you have submitted verification request, it will take 24-72 hours to get your KYC verified. You will get a notification after being verified. For checking your verification status, visit your profile and if you can see a verified tick on your screen, you are verified.
