Transfer funds securely with “eScrow”

Even though digital platforms have changed the way we do things and eased our busy lives, there are always risks involved in it. Therefore, to minimize such risks and protect our users, we have come up with a new service “eScrow“.

What is eScrow Service?

eScrow allows eSewa users to make payments to another eSewa wallet in the safest way possible. The main feature of this service is that the paid amount is held in Sender’s account during the transaction. After the completion of the obligations by the receiver, the receiver will receive the amount after the sender releases it. The main objective of the service is to manage fund transfer transactions by assuring both the sender and receiver while using the Send Money feature. This feature will be particularly helpful to users who are sending money to an unknown person i.e. to the person they do not have any personal connection with. This feature will help in mitigating risks involved in sending money for a payment to an unknown contact and also in reducing fraudulent transactions securing buyers’ money against any fraud from the sellers.

Where is the service available?

The “eScrow” service is available on the “Send Money” feature itself. It ensures managed fund transfers and also assures customers against any fraud while making payments to unknown users.

How does it work?

Follow these simple steps to use “eScrow” service

Step 1: Select Send Money option

Step 2: Fill Receiver’s ID and amount

Step 3: eScrow Service option is enabled / Manually enable the eScrow Service option

You’ll get a notification of the service charge, click on “I Agree” if you agree with the condition.

Step 4: Fill in the additional details and select Confirm button

When you are processing to transfer funds to anyone for the first time, upon disabling the feature to use the eScrow service, you will be notified to use the eScrow service. However, you have the option not to use the service too.

Step 5: Click on the “Confirm” button

Other things remain the same as Send Money, when you accept to use the eScrow service, you will be displayed with the message on the use of eScrow service.

Step 6: Click on the “Confirm” button

After you have agreed to use the eScrow service, you will be displayed with the confirmation page with the respective charges applicable on the use of the service.

After the transaction has been processed, it stays in a “Pending” status. The Pending transaction will be visible for both the sender and the receiver at the top of the Statement and eScrow card in Send Money. For the receiver, the notification badge will also be shown for new pending transactions.

At this stage, the amount will be released and transferred to the receiver’s wallet. Service charge will be deducted from the receiver’s wallet.

You can manage these types of transactions on your own whether to release/request the amount or file a complaint if there is any dispute in the transaction. Both the sender and the receiver have access to file a complaint if the goods/services are not delivered as promised or the Sender does not release the amount after completing the obligations. A complaint can be raised by clicking on the “Complain” button.

The following charges will incur on the receiver end:

Range (rs.) Service charge Dispute handling charge
Up to Rs. 25,000 Rs. 10 Rs. 50
