What are 3D secured cards?

3D secured card is any debit or credit card with an additional layer of security also known as 3D secure authentication. It provides card users with an extra authentication step involving OTP (One Time Password codes) for additional security. 3D secure authentication also helps in protecting users against card payment fraud.

How does a 3D secured card work?

When a user is ready to make payments online via card, they will be redirected to card provider’s portal where they will be asked for password or a one-time authentication code sent to customer’s mobile number. Once the customer provides correct details, it will be approved by the card provider and customers will be guided back to the original online portal.
For example, when customers choose load via card to add funds to their eSewa account, they are directed to a third-party portal. Here, they are asked to fill up card details along with their CVV number. Then, for additional protection, they require to enter a one-time password (OTP) sent in their mobile number. After they enter this code, their card provider will review the correctness of provided information and approve the transaction, thus, successfully loading the desired amount into customer’s eSewa wallet. Users will be redirected to eSewa’s portal and will be informed about successful completion of the transaction.

Thus, use 3D secured cards and protect yourselves from payment fraud. Also, enjoy additional benefits of loading eSewa via card.
